Authorities in Ellis County, Texas, have taken a mother into custody after she reportedly killed three of her children and injured two more. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at a home near Stafford Elementary School in Italy, Texas.
Sources have revealed that the children were siblings and had been placed under the guardianship of another relative by Child Protective Services (CPS). It is believed that the suspect stabbed her children when a CPS worker unexpectedly showed up to check on her.
The two injured children were airlifted to a local hospital with stab wounds. The extent of the children’s injuries is not known at this time. The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office had confirmed that CPS was at the scene of the crime before emergency services were called.
CPS expressed their shock and disbelief at the tragedy and is currently working with law enforcement to investigate the circumstances. As well, Ellis County Judge Todd Little offered his condolences to the families and citizens of Italy.
The investigation is still ongoing.
