Mother of 2 Dies in Freak Skydiving Accident

A 44-year-old mother of two from Poteau, Oklahoma, tragically passed away after suffering injuries incurred during a solo skydiving accident.

The incident occurred at Sallisaw Airport on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Sallisaw Police Department, an unknown problem arose during the jump that Glasgow could not recover from. Witnesses reported that Glasgow’s parachute had fully opened, but she spun uncontrollably before hitting the ground. Glasgow was taken to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. The 44-year-old Glasgow victim was then transported to Northeastern Health Systems Sequoyah, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m.

Approximately fourteen days before her demise, Glasgow posted a message on her online media page advocating the skydiving school in Sallisaw and exhibiting her eagerness ahead of her first jump with the help of an instructor. She expressed, “It should be a pleasant weekend. If you haven’t taken the plunge and need to then this is the spot to do it!”

The Federal Aviation Administration, aiding in the inquiry, articulated in an announcement that it is investigating the packing of Glasgow’s primary and reserve parachutes.

As reported by KFOR News, Adventure Skydive Center released a statement saying, “The management and staff of Adventure Skydive Center are in shock by this accident, and we express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Heather. We had come to know her as an eager and energetic, well-liked person. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and mourn her passing.”
