Model Found Dead in Mexico; Family Claims It Was Murder and Not Suicide

The shocking death of Agostina Jalabert, a 31-year-old Argentine model, has been ruled a suicide by authorities. However, her family believes that she was murdered and claims to know who did it.

On the morning of February 18th, Agostina’s 21-year-old sister, Candela, discovered her lifeless body in the bathroom of her apartment in the tourist-filled city of Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Before entering, security had informed Candela that police had recently visited the residence following reports of screaming heard on two occasions. But, when Candela attempted to enter with a security code, it did not work. She then started pounding on the door until her sister’s boyfriend, Juan Reverter, opened it and said Agostina was sleeping.

Agostina’s father, Edgardo Jalabert, told the Argentine news network TN that Candela was about to leave when her dog, Bruna, caught her attention and guided her to the bathroom, where Agostina was discovered suspended from the towel rack, either seated or partially seated a few feet off the ground. She also had a towel wrapped around her hands. The father stated that she had sustained numerous injuries.

The model’s uncle, Germán Jalabert, told Pagina 12 that Agostina was not suicidal and that hanging herself from a height lower than her own would have been difficult. He added that when Candela found her, she tried to revive her, but it was too late, as she had already passed away.
