Hamas, Israel, the Palestinian Conflict, and Condoleezza Rice

West Palm Beach, Fl – February 23, 2006 – Today, 2008 White House Candidate Daniel Imperato (www.daniel2008.com) elaborated on the diplomatic fumbles of Condoleezza Rice in the Israel/Palestinian Conflict.

“I would like to point out to the people of the USA, that our Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice made her greatest debut announcing her wonderful deal in the Gaza Strip some months ago pertaining to opening up the passageway between Israel and the Palestinians.”

The deal, brokered by Rice, allowed for the passageway of Palestinians into the Gaza Strip and also cleared the way for Hamas to vote in the elections.

“Once again this situation has proven to be detrimental to the region and has proven to be inappropriate at the present times. The USA has been supporting the Palestinian efforts and fueling and funding the Palestinians.”

Recent reports have shown the US has been a long-time supporter of the Palestinian Liberation Authority (PLA), with receipts totaling some $400 million of contributions to the Organization.

“Unfortunately the money has not been spent on the people of Palestine. The money has been spent in the area of weaponry in terrorist organizations, basically training the youth and taking advantage of the poor young people. They are manipulating the youth to develop their mindset of hatred of Israel, hatred of the world and peace in it, and have stunted the intelligence of these young children through terrorism, suicide attacks and war,” stated Imperato.

“Now our administration finds out that the money we’ve been fueling the Palestinians with has not been spent properly. In addition, while the USA and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice were supportive of democracy in the region and demanded that Israel allows Hamas to vote in the election in a democratic way. They now stand up to say that we will not support Hamas, the democratically elected government of Palestine.”

Imperato suggested that our lack of knowledge of the region has led to the recent problems encountered by our administration.

“We are invested in the Palestinians, built up Hamas through the Palestinians, allowed them and supported them to vote, and basically dropped the ball. It shows once again that our administration and its diplomatic approach to Middle East politics is completely inappropriate, flip-flopped, and being undermined by the very region based upon the weakness of our administration’s capabilities. This is clearly because of our administration’s inexperience in the region and inability to be able to measure and study the region as it should have been studied long before.

Additionally, Imperato also called on George W. Bush to work with the Arab League for peace.

“I once again call on our president George W. Bush and our administration to call on the Arab League. Our administration must listen to the Arab League’s point of view and participate with their leadership to digest the strategic studies of the Arab League’s understanding of the region and its conflicts. We must embrace the Arab League’s leadership and collaborate with them in diffusing the situation that is growing towards negative dangerous results in the Middle East and for the rest of the world.”
