Israeli sentenced to death in UAE freed, returned home

President Isaac Herzog secures release of Fidaa Kiwan, an Arab-Israeli convicted cocaine trafficker, on the first day of Ramadan.

By Lauren Marcus, World Israel News

An Arab-Israeli who was sentenced to death in the United Arab Emirates for cocaine trafficking was released from prison and landed in Israel on Saturday evening, marking the end of a legal saga that tested diplomatic relations between the Gulf Kingdom and Jerusalem.

Fidaa Kiwan, originally from the northern city of Haifa, was found guilty in an Emirati court in April 2022. Due to diplomatic pressure from Israel, her sentence was commuted several months later to life imprisonment.

Kiwan, a staunch anti-Zionist, previously made headlines in 2010 for refusing to serve a uniformed IDF soldier in a café she once owned. The café eventually closed.

According to Hebrew language media reports, her brother, a one-time employee of public broadcasting station Kan, trashed a room at his workplace in which Israeli flags were displayed.

After her Kiwan’s arrest in Dubai, she initially resisted help from Israeli officials because of her political views. However, she eventually reached out to Israeli authorities for assistance.

Her family vocally accused the Israeli government of racism, claiming in a press conference that officials weren’t doing enough to help her case because of her Arab ethnicity.

President Isaac Herzog personally asked UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan to pardon Kiwan and he agreed, according to a statement from Herzog’s office.

Kiwan’s release came on the first day of Ramadan. Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia often freeze executions and release prisoners during the month-long holiday.

Although Kiwan is an Israeli citizen, it could be that the Emirates released her as a gesture of goodwill towards the Palestinians, as the woman in question identifies herself as Palestinian.

It’s unclear if Kiwan plans to formally thank the State of Israel and its diplomats for its extensive intervention in securing her freedom and returning her to her home country.

Man Allegedly Throws Woman Wrapped in Blanket off 4th Floor Balcony

Tulsa police in Oklahoma have charged Richard Lee Wallace Jr. with aggravated assault and battery, following an incident in which he reportedly threw an unconscious woman off a fourth-floor balcony at an apartment complex.

The woman was injured badly in the fall and firefighters found her in the courtyard with multiple broken bones and a broken femur and ankle.

On March 18th, 2020, around 4:30 a.m., officers were called to the scene after surveillance footage showed Wallace leaving the apartment with the woman wrapped in a blanket that appeared to be unconscious.

He allegedly took her to a common area and then threw her over the balcony before refusing to come out of the apartment. After a brief confrontation with the police, he finally opened the door and complied.

At this time, there has been no update on the woman’s condition and Wallace is currently being held at the Tulsa County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on Friday and does not yet have an attorney of record.

Woman Allegedly Tries to Light 1-Year-Old Daughter on Fire

Lisbeth Collado and Jamie Avery Jr. attempted to burn their 1-year-old daughter in a gruesome scene of an attempted assault at Love’s Travel Shops in Tyre, New York, in May of 2022.

The Finger Lakes Times reported that Collado allegedly doused her one-year-old daughter with a flammable liquid in an effort to set the child on fire.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s office, officials responded to the incident after receiving several 911 calls. They swiftly put out multiple small fires in the building. At the same time, the couple’s son was found in a nearby semi-truck with an apparent head injury.

The inquiry about why this heinous crime occurred remains in the air. But, the couple’s children were expected to fully recover at the time despite being subjected to the horror.

Following the examination of evidence, a grand jury indicted the couple with multiple charges, including attempted aggravated murder and attempted murder in the second degree. The charges also included arson in the second-degree and second-degree attempted arson as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree attempted assault.

On Monday, Collado made an official plea to plead guilty to attempted assault. Her husband, Avery Jr., had pleaded guilty to the same charge in December and is attempting to now withdraw his plea.

Collado is set to receive her verdict on May 10 and will serve nine years in prison and five more years probation upon her release.

This painful incident is heart-wrenching and emphasizes the discrepancy between those who would harm innocent children and those here to fight for justice. It is necessary and just that Collado and Avery Jr. are held accountable for their actions and serve the appropriate sentence.

Woman Fatally Stabbed at Bible Study Group

On Tuesday, the Saint Paul community was rocked by the violent death of a beloved mother, Corrina Woodhull.

According to reports, Woodhull was stabbed 20 times in the torso, chest, and arms by her estranged husband, Robert Castillo – a man with eight prior felony convictions.

The violent attack allegedly happened during a bible study group in a Saint Paul home at about 9 pm.

Witnesses of the tragedy say that Castillo whispered something in Woodhull’s ear before exhibiting what they described as a cobra-like attack. And the brutal assault was seemingly over in seconds.

The autopsy conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office showed that Victoria Woodhull had suffered a fatal stab wound to her left chest, as well as other blunt force injuries to her face, chest, and upper limbs.

The criminal complaint obtained by Fox News detailed a tragic story of a woman in recovery from depression and substance use disorder.

Woodhull overcame her struggles to become an active advocate for those who have gone through similar experiences, dedicating her time to many nonprofits, charities, and ministries. Friends and family describe her as having an unmatched passion for the Lord and an enthusiasm to help others.

Woodhull’s death is an unfortunate reminder of the epidemic of domestic violence and its devastating effects on innocent victims and their communities.

Record 650,000 protesters take to the streets against judicial reform

Protesters demonstrated outside Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s home. The defense minister later called on the government to halt the reform.

By World Israel News Staff

Hundreds of thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv and other cities in Israel on Saturday night for the twelfth week in a row, to protest against the government’s controversial plan to reform the country’s left-leaning judiciary.

While Tel Aviv, as usual, held the largest protest with an estimated 200,000 protesters, other major Israeli cities saw record turnouts.

Protest organizers claimed that more than 630,000 people attended the rallies, but that number has not been verified elsewhere.

A few hundred protesters at the protest in Tel Aviv broke through a barrier and ran onto the Ayalon highway in a bid to block traffic and some lit fires. 28 people were arrested and police deployed a water cannon against protesters.

A giant poster featuring former president Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hovered over the protesters’ heads with the slogan, “Arrest them.”

More than a thousand protesters, led by a group representing reservist soldiers, demonstrated outside Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s home.

However, later on, Gallant called on Netanyahu to halt the- reform legislation in a televised address, saying it harmed Israel’s security.

Kanye West: ‘I like Jews again after watching Jonah Hill movie’

“No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people,” unhinged rapper writes.

By World Israel News Staff

Disgraced rapper Kanye West dedicated his first social media post in months to Jews, saying he “likes Jewish people again” after seeing Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street.

West, who legally changed his name to Ye, wrote: “Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again.”

“No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people. No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew,” he added, in what appears to be an attempt at redeeming himself after his antisemitic tirades cost him his billionaire status.

“Thank you Jonah Hill I love you,” he concluded.

Last month, the Anti-Defamation League released a report documenting dozens of antisemitic acts perpetrated under the “Ye is right” slogan.

“Kanye West’s repeated antisemitic remarks – and his dredging up some of the worst anti-Jewish tropes imaginable — are inspiring people to commit real-world acts of hate,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL’s CEO. Antisemitic tweets referencing the “Ye is Right” slogan also reached nearly 5 million users of the platform.

was recently crowned “Antisemite of the Year” over his hateful tirades against the Jewish people, with nearly ten thousand people voting for him to become the recipient of watchdog group StopAntisemitism’s dubious honor.

Kanye’s ongoing vitriol began in early October, when he tweeted that he would be going “death con 3 on Jewish people.”

He also said Jewish people should “let it go” about the Holocaust and “forgive Hitler.

A week prior, he told conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that “There’s a lot of things I love about Hitler, a LOT of things.”
